Peugeot FAQs

Common questions about Peugeot.

Specifics on warranties, parts, servicing and resale — drawn from what our customers ask most.

A new Peugeot in South Africa typically comes with a 5-year or 100,000km warranty (whichever comes first), plus a 5-year or 60,000km service plan as standard on most models. The warranty covers manufacturing defects across the engine, gearbox, electronics and major mechanical components. Roadside assistance is usually included for the same period. Specifics can vary by model and current promotional offers — for example the Landtrek bakkie warranty terms differ slightly to the passenger range. Confirm the exact warranty and service plan for the specific model and derivative you're looking at when you visit, or enquire through our contact page. See current Peugeot stock.

Right here at Stellantis Richards Bay — we're the authorised Peugeot dealer and workshop for the northern KZN region. We carry genuine Peugeot parts, have factory-trained technicians, and use Peugeot's specific diagnostic equipment. There are additional authorised Peugeot workshops in Durban and Pietermaritzburg if you're based further south. Servicing at an authorised Peugeot dealer keeps your warranty and service plan valid. We service Peugeots regardless of where the vehicle was originally bought — bring the service book and we'll update our records. Book a service through our contact page.

Yes. Peugeot has a strong parts network in South Africa managed by Stellantis SA, with central warehouses in Gauteng and regional distribution to dealers. Most common service items (filters, brakes, wipers, fluids) are in stock at the dealership or available next-day. Less common parts can take a few days to arrive but rarely longer than a week. The volume models in SA — the 2008 and Landtrek — have especially good parts availability because of the numbers on the road. Pricing for genuine Peugeot parts is competitive with other European brands. We'll quote any specific part for you before ordering.

Peugeot sits in a sweet spot — French design, strong build quality, and prices that typically undercut equivalent Volkswagen, BMW or Mercedes models. The interior design language (the i-Cockpit with small steering wheel and high-mounted instrument cluster) is distinctive and divides opinion until you drive it. Engines are efficient turbocharged petrol units shared with other Stellantis brands. Ride comfort is generally softer than German equivalents, suiting SA road conditions well. Where Peugeot wins is value for spec — you get more standard equipment for the price than most European rivals. Where Germans still lead is brand prestige and resale on premium trims.

Peugeot resale in SA is solid for the popular models and softer for less common derivatives. The 2008 holds value reasonably well thanks to consistent demand and a strong reputation for design and equipment levels. Expect roughly 50 to 55 percent retained value after three years and 60,000km — broadly in line with French and Korean rivals, slightly behind Toyota and VW. Higher-trim turbo variants typically hold better than entry-level petrol. A full Peugeot service history, low mileage, and condition all push numbers up. The Landtrek is still establishing its resale curve as a newer entrant to the SA bakkie market.

Yes — modern Peugeots are well-suited to SA conditions. The 1.2 PureTech and 1.6 turbo petrol engines are proven powertrains used across the Stellantis range, and they handle SA fuel quality, heat, and long highway distances without issue. The 2008's ride quality copes well with mixed road surfaces from KZN coastal roads to rural gravel. The Landtrek is built specifically for emerging markets including tough working conditions. The two things we recommend for any modern car in SA: stick to the service schedule (sand, dust and stop-start traffic age fluids faster than European cycles assume), and use the recommended fuel grade.

The Peugeot 2008 — the compact SUV — is consistently the brand's best-seller in South Africa. It hits a sweet spot of price, space, equipment levels and modern design that resonates with SA buyers, and the i-Cockpit interior with its compact steering wheel and digital instruments gives it a more premium feel than most rivals at the price. The Landtrek bakkie is the other half of the local range, building share in the work and adventure markets with strong diesel torque and genuine 4x4 capability. Globally, yes — Peugeot has a full e-range including an all-electric version of the 2008 (the e-2008) and electrified versions of several other models. In South Africa the electric and hybrid line-up is more limited and rolls out gradually as charging infrastructure expands. Current availability changes regularly as Stellantis SA introduces models — some are confirmed for SA, others are still under evaluation. If you're specifically looking for a Peugeot hybrid or EV, contact us and we'll confirm what's available right now and what's planned for the next 6 to 12 months. Pure-petrol Peugeots remain the volume models locally.
